Drink This: The Beverley Hotel’s take on the mint julep

TIFF is well under way — or so we’ve heard — and between the star-sightings, screenings and, well, screams, a cocktail is a welcome respite from the madness. At The Beverley, Toronto’s swishiest new boutique hotel, guests nibble on eats from chef Eric Wood against a cool backdrop of silver and grey.

Drink-wise, the signature is the Beverley’s Hillbilly ($13). Last week we featured The Cocktail Parlor’s take on the mint julep; this week, we’ve got the hotel’s version of the classic tipple. Bar manager Chris Cooper muddles raspberries, then layers in lime and cane syrup before adding Grand Marnier and Woodford Reserve bourbon.

The drink is finished with packed ice, making for a boozy, grown-up slushy that’ll cool anyone down pronto.
