Riverside’s Loïc Gourmet will close in December

Riverside’s Loïc Gourmet will close its doors this holiday season after almost five years in business. The gourmet take-out spot was known for its decadent French-inspired fare, including rotisserie chicken and terrine.

When the shop first opened, owner-chef David Kokai (Mercer Street Grill, Auberge du Pommier) and his wife, Kathleen Finlay, were excited to have a business in the same neighborhood in which they lived. But according to Finlay, the couple would like “to move on to new challenges.” Kokai would like to study pastry, and a move to Paris is a possibility. A farewell letter is posted on the shop’s website.

Loïc Gourmet will close on Dec. 21. We’re told that a catering business called Heirloom Foods will open in its stead.
