Friday Restaurant Recap rounds up the week’s Toronto restaurant news. In this edition: new locations for Pizzeria Libretto, ramen from the Yours Truly team, the second Hooked location and more.
Opening soon
- Pizzeria Libretto co-owner Max Rimaldi recently tweeted that three new locations of the restaurant are in the works, including one for midtown. When contacted about the tweet, he did not provide additional details.
- The owners of Yours Truly are planning to open a Queen West ramen shop later this year. [Toronto Life]
- Rock Lobster Food Co., a popular vendor from the Toronto Underground Market, has secured a location on the Ossington strip for a full-fledged restaurant.
- Popular Thai restaurant Sukhothai is opening a second location near St. Lawrence Market. [The Grid]
Newly opened
- A second location of Hooked has opened in Kensington Market.
- Bonne Journee, a classic French bakeshop, has opened in Toronto’s east end. [BlogTO]
Change-ups
- The Black Hoof has changed chefs again. Brandon Olsen is leaving to take a break and to do some traveling, and Jesse Grasso — who has worked at La Quercia and Bao Bei in Vancouver — has taken the reins.
- Hopgood’s Foodliner is getting an “oyster shack” in its back room. Essentially, it’s going to be a private dining space that serves copious amounts of seafood.
