Toronto just got a new gourmet patty place from the owner of Patois

Popular Asian-Caribbean fusion restaurant Patois is expanding its brand yet again. But you won’t have to go too far to get your hands on the latest deliciousness  from celebrated chef Craig Wong because this latest venture is  just next door to his popular Asian-Caribbean eatery.

Located in the Trinity-Bellwoods neighbourhood at 796 Dundas St W., JunePlum by Patois opened on March 24 to a legion of loyal fans. Featuring “the food and goods they’re so obsessed with that they had to open a space next door” the shop features the same sell-out-in-minute Jamaican patties popularized at Wong’s Weekender Cafe Pop-Up and feature fillings that include curry goat and smoked brisket.

According to an Instagram post, the patties are a “true labour of love” and production is a three-day process.

“Chef Wong set out to create a decadent patty that his family grew up on eating in Jamaica, ” explains the post. “It’s unique shape and fold allows for more meat filling inside the patty and a better ratio of meat to crust, with maximum edges and four corners to bite.”

“When you walk into our space, you’re immediately on vacation. Everything is handpicked and curated just for you, from the merchandise we sell, to the tropical vibes and music,” reads a message on JunePlum’s website.

Along with handheld snack to grab-and-go, the shop also sells a large selection of pantry items like Ovaltine cookies, spiced buns, Red Stripe Beer as well as a number of Wong’s own marinades and sauces including a signature secret sauce, Alabama white sauce and Memphis hickory.

JunePlum by Patois is open  for walk-ins and pick-ups on Fridays to Sundays from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
