Vaughan Mills will get bigger and better this spring

Looks like local mallrats will have tons more space to shop and eat; they’ll just have to head a little north. Vaughan Mills announced today that it will undergo an $87-million expansion, which will add nearly 14,000 square metres to its structure, making way for 50 new stores.

Besides the new stores (which have yet to be revealed, with the exception of a Legoland Discovery Centre), a new entertainment court is in the works, and the existing food court, along with other common areas, will get a facelift.

The renovation might seem a bit soon, seeing as the mall just opened in 2004, but given the excited frenzy behind the ever-expanding Yorkdale, it seems the need (or the want) of a ginormous mall is pretty fashionable.

Construction on the new-and-improved Vaughan Mills is set to begin in the spring.
