A brand new neighbourhood hotspot for food lovers across the city is coming to the trendy Ossington strip. Ossington Canteen is a food cooperative, offering a restaurant, café and bar, grocery store and pantry all wrapped up into one dynamic space.
Collaborating with local chefs and brands, Ossington Canteen offers patrons a unique mix of grab-and-go and ready-to-eat hot foods including Texas breakfast tacos from Republic of Tacos not found anywhere else, British meat pies from Pies by Squires, both fresh and frozen dessert pies by Gertie’s, fresh pasta from Back To The Pasta and tons of other unique and exclusive local food items.

For the owners, Ossington Canteen goes beyond a typical food hall experience, offering local chefs, brands and products a “stage” in which to showcase unique offerings, introducing shoppers to different items they won’t typically find at their local grocery store or favourite restaurant.
“Our goal is to have an interesting rotation of vendors and products, shedding some light on local brands and products that we’d love our customers and the community to know about,” says a representative from Ossington Canteen.
Though it was originally slated to open in fall 2021, the brick and mortar is scheduled to open within the next four weeks or so, but you can snag some of the hot food items early, through UberEats for both pickup and delivery.
Located in the former home of Moliceiro Restaurant at 217 Ossington Ave., Ossington Canteen plans to operate six days a week from 8:00a.m. – 5:00p.m. and serve as a community hub for all things local and fresh.
“With Ossington Canteen, we aim to provide an approachable and welcoming space where people can walk in to pick-up some pantry items, order some hot meals to-go or for dine-in, grab a coffee or a cocktail and just hang out.”
