Grant van Gameren and Guy Rawlings join forces at Lucien (the word “awesome” comes to mind)

When Grant van Gameren announced that he was leaving The Black Hoof back in August, the news was bittersweet. Sure, it sucked that he was leaving the Hoof, but what was he going to tackle next? The answer is Lucien, Toronto Life reports.

The news is doubly interesting: not only is van Gameren headed there, but Guy Rawlings (ex-Cowbell and Brockton General) is too. They are replacing chef Scot Woods.

Lucien’s owner, Simon Bower, tells Toronto Life that “the restaurant is going in a new direction,” which, in addition to the two highly-regarded chefs, apparently means bigger portions and lower prices.

The chef duo has been in the kitchen since last week, but the new menu is on hold for a few weeks until kinks get worked out. We have a feeling we’re not the only ones eager to give it a taste.
