As a sixth generation konditor, or specialty pastry chef and chocolatier, chef Daniel Stubbe is never messing around when it comes to the art of chocolate and pastry. Growing up in Germany, he was constantly surrounded by treats and chocolates. He attended culinary school and apprenticed under many konditorei before moving to Canada and opening Stubbe. Now 20 years since its opening, Stubbe is one of the leading chocolatiers in Canada and has set the bar high for chefs to come. The moment you walk in to the chocolate shop, located at Dupont and Christie, you are overwhelmed by the precious pearls that sit behind the glass waiting for you take a bite. The truffles are something to be marvelled at, coming in a variety of flavours and colours and immaculately painted and dusted with the finest toppings and ingredients. Stubbe still uses recipes passed down from generations before him to curate some of the most magnificent and decadent chocolates in the city.
