After a visit from K-pop supergroup BTS, Ssangkye Braised Chicken House became the ultimate hot spot for Korean-style braised chicken in Thornhill. Originating in Andong, South Korea, jjimdak is slow braised chicken cooked in a wok with a multitude of delicious Korean sides. At Ssangkye Braised Chicken House, they’re serving jjimdak with dumplings, glass noodles and an assortment of vegetables in a variety of different homemade sauces. If you’re looking for something more traditional, the signature black sauce is the way to go. Soy-based to make it sweeter, it’s also less rich than its red sauce counterpart, really highlighting the flavours of the dish. If you like spicy, the signature gochujang-based red sauce is the way to go. Looking for something a little less traditional? Try the white cheese variety smothered in ooey gooey mozzarella. Jjimdak isn’t the only thing being served up at this Thornhill joint. Be sure to order the honey garlic pizza ($5.99) with toppings like cornflakes and dried cranberries. It’s a must try.
