There's a reason round-the-block lineups at Pizzeria Badiali are commonplace: the slices are really, really good. They're a genuine homage to a New York slice, served in a paper plate with really thin crust. The flavours are both simple and complex, from Margherita and pepperoni to burrata marinara and a selection of rotating walk-in specials like capicollo and pineapple and cacio e pepe. Full pies can be ordered ahead of time, but slices can only be ordered on the premises. And, in true Manhattan fashion, there are also salads and soft drinks that are best enjoyed in the surrounding neighbourhood, on picnic tables or park benches.
