Mariachi’s Restaurant serves uptown diners a taste of authentic Mexican food in a warm and homey environment. Mariachi’s first opened its doors in 1998 as Alejandra Hernandez’s first restaurant. Since then, very little has changed as Torontonians have fallen in love with its standard Mexican fare, like burritos, tacos and the crowd-pleasing fajitas, as well as Mariachi’s more substantial dishes like the steak pepino or “mariscada,” a seafood dish made for two. All dishes come with a side of rice, salad and refried beans so good Hernandez swears she has converted many refried bean haters to lovers. She is also sensitive to the difference in spice tolerance some Canadians have compared to Mexicans, thus many menu items have adjustable spice levels. Wash it all down with a margarita or a tequilatini or another drink from the bar, which features an extensive selection of Mexican beers. No matter what your order may be, special attention will always be paid to its preparation and presentation.
