About the Restaurant

On the corner of Av and Dav (Avenue and Davenport) lives one of Toronto's oldest diners, Avenue Diner. All they have is a phone number, no website or social media. Stepping into this small diner is like stepping back to 1944, the year it opened. You almost expect Michael J. Fox to come out in his puffy vest and take you back to the future. Service is very friendly and the vibe is calm. If you're more into brunch, the feta omelette is a classic, open-faced and browned, and the feta adds a great hit of salt. Fries are just fine, as is the coffee. Good value for your basic egg renditions. More into the lunch territory, the tuna melt recipe hasn't changed one bit and has been satisfying customers for over 50 years.
