Skip long lines at airport security and eat your way through Shanghai right in Toronto at The Daily Dumpling Wonton Co. With two locations, one in Little Italy and the latest in the Annex, you can get your hand-rolled wonton fix with a variety of traditional fillings and your choice of soup or peanut sauce, right in your own backyard.

The fillings, sauce and soup are all handmade, with the goal of bringing this classic Shanghai comfort food to the Canadian masses. Opt for the shrimp, pork and chive for a simple yet tasty flavour combination. Other options include beef and celery or classic pork and mustard green. No matter the filling you choose, the spongy texture of the wonton wrapper absorbs the soup or peanut sauce, so every bite is packed with juicy flavour. Plant-based? No problem. The Daily Dumpling Wonton Co. has vegan options, too, so foregoing meat doesn’t mean skipping out on flavour. The vegan options are packed full of spinach and shiitake mushrooms with pine nuts for an added crunch.

This dumpling spot is a Toronto company founded in early 2018 by two young entrepreneurs – one from Shanghai and one from Toronto. Since first opening its doors, the duo has grown the local business, guided by the simple belief that value and quality will always deliver a premium product.

In addition to the two brick-and-mortar locations serving up fresh wontons, The Daily Dumpling Wonton Co. also sells its frozen dumplings wholesale. Eventually, the goal is to expand the wholesale side of the business so even more people can taste a piece of Shanghai.

Swing by 792 College St. or 750 Spadina Ave. to get your hands on some fresh or frozen dumplings and try for yourself.
