Back in November, when we reported on the closure of the longstanding Sierra Grill, we had a feeling that the site would get taken over by Claudio Aprile. He had already announced that he was planning on expanding the Origin brand, including an Origin North. Today The Grid confirms that Origin is indeed headed to Bayview Village, and another location is slated for Liberty Village as well.
Of Origin North, Aprile tells The Grid: “It’s going to have the DNA and the core values of Origin, but not the exact same menu. It’s a different demographic, and it’s exciting to learn about the neighbourhood and create dishes that will resonate with the people living there.”
Aprile has also gotten a hold of a space in Liberty Village, at 171 Liberty Street East, for a 150-seat restaurant, lounge and bar.
The plan is to have the Origin in Libery Village open for spring of 2012 and Origin North open for December 2012.
