Isabelle Fish’s new Yorkville boutique, Rue Pigalle, borrows its name from the red light district in Paris – an area with a past coloured by impressionist painters and Moulin Rouge.
Just like its name, Fish says her shop has elements of tradition, but it’s also a little naughty.
Take a trip to the second floor luxury boutique and you’ll stumble upon one-of-a-kind women’s accessories, jewelry and home décor made by European artisans and craftsmen.
"I come from a culture where handmade items that are unique, that come from boutique stores, are really the way we shop," the French native tells PostCity.com.
For winter, she says the hot trends include camel leather and jewelry that’s big or worn in multiples.
Check out the colourful, sculptural Italian jewelry from Nicoletta Cei and French handbags from Louis Quatorze, made from exotic leathers with neat stitching and minimal hardware.
And, if you’re one to forget a birthday or anniversary, Fish provides a reminder service where they’ll call you, pre-select a gift, and even offer flowers to accompany it. Private shopping experiences are also available.
