Hold onto your forks, Toronto! The queen of competitive eating, Miki Sudo, has thrown her hat — or should we say fork — into the ring for the 2024 Smoke’s Poutinerie World Poutine Eating Championship (WPEC). This epic showdown is set to take over Yonge-Dundas Square on Saturday, August 10.

Sudo, the world’s top-ranked female eater and fifth overall globally, recently proved her chops by devouring 51 hot dogs in 10 minutes at this year’s Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest, an annual competition in New York City’s Coney Island. The 39-year-old New York native burst onto the scene in 2013 by winning a pho contest. Now ranked third worldwide by Major League Eating, she holds records in kimchi, hotdish, ice cream and hot dogs.

Now, she’s coming for the poutine crown, and Toronto better be ready for some serious eating action.

Sudo isn’t the only heavyweight in the lineup. The competition is fiercer than ever, and is set to include:

Patrick Bertoletti (number two-ranked), fresh off his first-place win at Coney Island
Geoffrey Esper (number three-ranked)
James Webb (number one in Australia,  number four globally)
Darrien Thomas (number one in Canada, number 10 globally)

These titans of the table are set to battle it out for poutine supremacy at the iconic Smoke-A-Palooza event, which promises to be a full-blown party that will feature rock tribute bands and high-energy vibes.

Adding to the excitement is the Ryan Smolkin Memorial CEO Challenge in support of We Care. Watch as corporate execs ditch their suits for a chance to stuff their faces with poutine, all for a good cause — raising funds to send children with disabilities to accessible summer camps.

This event will take place on Saturday, August 10, 2024, at 3:30 at Toronto’s Yonge-Dundas Square. Click here to learn more about the event.
