What I Wore: how a good biker jacket — along with some intricate jewellery — can spice up any outfit

Throwing on a good black leather jacket, especially of the motorcycling kind, can edge up any outfit. Case in point: when myself and some other fashion bloggers in the city were asked to wear Rachel Rachel Roy to the designer’s recent appearance at The Bay, each and every one of us showed up with a black biker jacket overtop of our RRR dresses of choice. Basically, it’s a no-brainer for making anything look extra cool, and it’s so easy to throw on.

This outfit was all about giving more of an edge to a sexy — yet fairly classic — black lace dress from Leilanni that I was wearing out to an event. The challenge was to make it look younger and cooler. It always looks beautiful on its own, but this time around I wanted to have a little more fun with things. Adding a harness-like necklace from local designer Dolorous Jewelry definitely helped shake things up. The intricate work from this line has caught my eye for some time, making me wonder how a simple chain could be turned into something so mind boggling and amazing — like modern day body armor.

While I stuck to a new piece from the FW12 collection, one that was easier to put on than some of her other multi-layered pieces, the overall result is a look that reminds me of the vampires who show up to crash Buffy’s prom in the 1992 classic, Buffy The Vampire Slayer. In other words, I love it.

What I Wore: vintage leather jacket from Penny Arcade, harness necklace by Dolorous Jewelry, black lace dress and skirt slip by Leilanni, sunglasses by D&G, vintage clutch, shoes by Alexander Wang from TheOutnet.com.
