Toronto Silent Film Festival
When: April 4-9
Where: Various locations
Details: The festival “where music and images do the talking” features seven silent films over six days. The event kicks off with Carl T. Dreyer’s The Passion of Joan of Arc and concludes with The General, starring legendary comic actor Buster Keaton. Each film is coupled with improvised live music.
The Good Food & Drink Festival
When: April 5-7
Where: Direct Energy Centre, 100 Princes’ Blvd.
Details: An event for the gluttonous at heart! Now in its 21st year, The Good Food & Drink Festival brings together over 100 vendors including Mill Street Brewery, Spring Rolls, Curbside Bliss Cupcakes and Smoke’s Poutinerie. There will be a Schott Zwiesel tasting room, a sampling of the city’s best food trucks with Eat St. host James Cunningham and celebrity chef Anna Olson will make an appearance, too.
Total Health Show
When: April 5-7
Where: Metro Toronto Convention Centre, North Building, 255 Front St. W
Details: The Total Health Show offers over 200 exhibits covering the natural health field along with special workshops and more than 60 international speakers. On the main stage will be human rights activist and microbiologist Shiv Chopra, Grain-Free Gourmet author Jodi Bager, psychotherapist Robert Ferrie and more.
The Old Book & Paper Show
When: April 7
Where: Artscape Wychwood Barns, 601 Christie St.
Details: The Old Book & Paper Show can satisfy anyone’s love of that acidic, musty odour of old books. Located in the historic and industrial-chic Wychwood Barns, The Old Book & Paper Show is a collection of vintage prints ranging from photography, movie posters, transportation memorabilia, historical documents, literature and more.
Queen West Walking Art Tour
When: April 6
Where: Gladstone Hotel, 1214 Queen St. W.
Details: Join arts writer Betty Ann Jordan on a tour through Queen Street West’s shops, galleries and art-lined alleyways. Toronto’s Art and Design District, between Gladstone and Bathurst, is home to hundreds of galleries, fashion and design venues and unique restaurants.
