Cirque du Soleil’s return to the Air Canada Centre will be a “thriller” in more ways than one. After its wildly popular debut in a limited run last year, Michael Jackson: The Immortal World Tour will see the Montreal-based company mix the unforgettable music of Michael Jackson with its own unique blend of acrobatic, death-defying and often humorous entertainment.

Booze, grub and music comprise the three central selling points of the 18th annual Toronto's Festival of Beer (although one doesn’t need more than the first point to get people interested). Canada’s biggest beer fest will see performances by musical acts like Salt-N-Pepa and Big Wreck, as well as a wide variety of food options, but it’s the selection of over 200 different brands of beer that will have people flocking to Bandshell Park this weekend.

While most of the world’s best athletes can be found in Britain this weekend for the start of the Summer Olympics, there will still be plenty of world-class golfing talent at the RBC Canadian Open. The 2012 British Open champion Ernie Els leads a field that also includes Canadians Mike Weir and Stephen Ames, as well as former champions Sean O’Hair, Jim Furyk and Vijay Singh.
Hart attack
It takes a certain kind of comedian to make heavy topics such as drug abuse and divorce funny, but that’s what you can expect with the raw-but-hilarious stand-up of Kevin Hart, who stops by The Sony Centre. His Laugh at my Pain tour finds the funny in a difficult upbringing (drug-addicted father, single mom) and his recent divorce.
Rap Battlez
Wiz Khalifa is a 24-year-old Muslim brought up in a military family, while Mac Miller is a 20-year-old Jew and lifelong Pittsburgh native, but these two rappers have more in common than it would appear. In addition to boasting numerous tattoos and first names that go well with cheese, they share a common love for hip-hop and a strong bond that has existed since meeting in high school. Now world-renowned rap artists, they will co-headline the Influence Tour along with Kendrick Lamar, Chiddy Bang, Schoolboy Q and Chevy Woods.
