Cameron Wilson’s proper exposure to the fashion world began at age 17, when he moved to Milan. Working as a full-time model, Wilson became increasingly transfixed with being on the other side of the camera, taking to fashion photography like a moth to a flame. Fast-forward a few years, and Untitled & Co., Wilson’s month-old boutique, aims to recreate some of that photo-worthy flare for the downtown crowd.
Hawking a combination of vintage and pre-owned duds, re-worked garments and indie labels, the store focuses on offering customers unique goods.
“I wanted cool things to shoot,” Cameron notes, “so I began making my own pieces.”
Bleaching denim, and dip-dying and adding studs to basic gear are just some of the altering techniques he uses. We fell for a coral-coloured sweater that had been toughened up with a necklace of pointed studs ($40). Additionally, Cameron whips up garments from scratch: we liked a floral printed T-shirt with a black mesh insert running down the front ($65). His DIY approach also extends to the store logo and promotional postcards, which features a bevy of ladies he both styled and shot.
In terms of the vintage goods, Cameron points out a deadstock collection of lingerie that he discovered in a trunk belonging to his great grandmother, and a “disco, Rolls Royce jacket,” featuring a medley of black and gold sequins ($65). Contemporary pieces for women include goods from L.A. line Mystery; for guys, exclusive tanks from local lines Body by Jay and Fresh Train Co. sit next to pieces from Mexican line Sglow in the Dark. Noteworthy accessories include a pair of Missoni sunglasses ($110) alongside on-trend circle shades ($10) and playful, shoulder-sweeping earrings from local label Bijoux ($40).
