Toronto is in for a special treat as two renowned Michelin-starred chefs collaborate for an exclusive culinary event.
Patrick Kriss, the creative force behind Alo and Ryusuke Nakagawa, the innovative chef leading Aburi Hana, are joining forces for the inaugural collaboration of their teams. Together, they will craft a multi-course dinner experience blending contemporary French and modern Kyō-Kaiseki cuisine.
The collaborative dinner will take place on January 29 at Alo Restaurant (163 Spadina Ave.) and January 30 at Aburi Hana (102 Yorkville Ave.).
With tickets priced at $625 per person, participants can look forward to a diverse culinary experience featuring an array of courses that highlight the combined expertise of both chefs. The menu comprises two canapés, four savoury courses, one dessert and two petit fours, each meticulously paired with selections curated by Alo’s wine director, Christopher Sealy, and Aburi Hana’s sake director, Amy Lee.
Ryusuke Nakagawa, the executive chef of Aburi Hana, brings extensive experience from well-known Japanese restaurants to the Canadian culinary scene. The restaurant received Michelin stars in both 2022 and 2023.
Nakagawa enthusiastically shares his excitement about the collaboration, stating, “It is a dream come true.”
Patrick Kriss, founder of Alo Food Group, has also made a significant impact on Toronto’s fine dining scene. Following stints in prestigious restaurants in New York and France, alongside luminaries like Daniel Boulud, he established Alo Food Group. His celebrated establishments, including Alo, Aloette, Alobar, and Alder, distinguish him as the sole Toronto chef with Michelin stars for two of his restaurants in 2022 and 2023 (Alo and Alobar). Alder also found a place on the Michelin recommended restaurants list in 2023.
“We eagerly look forward to our collaboration with the talented Aburi Hana team and extending a warm welcome to our guests,” says Kriss.
The collaborative dinner on January 29 at Alo Restaurant is fully booked. However, reservations for the dinner on January 30 at Aburi Hana are still available.
