A vacation isn’t truly a vacation without your four-legged furry family member! Thankfully, there are more than a few places across Ontario where your pup will be more than welcome. To help you navigate your next staycation, here is a list of the five top dog-friendly stayvacation spots in and near Toronto, so you can bring your best friend along with you on an upcoming getaway.
Kimpton Saint George Hotel, Toronto
This boutique hotel in Yorkville has previously been named one of the top pet-friendly hotels in Toronto (bonus: the hotel itself is luxurious and reflects the neighbourhood’s indie cool aesthetic)! Not only is there no size or weight limit on your pet, but there’s also no limit on the number of pets you’re allowed to bring. It’s an economical option too as you won’t get charged extra to have your pups join you and there are no deposit/cleaning fees for your pets. Your dog can expect to be treated with luxury, with plenty of treats, as well as dog beds and doggy bathrooms available upon request! Take a detour and spend an evening at nearby Hemingway’s Restaurant (142 Cumberland St) as dogs are allowed on its year-round front patio. 280 Bloor St W, Toronto.

The Westin Harbour Castle, Toronto
Escape for a weekend (or a staycation) at this dog-friendly Toronto waterfront hotel, where you and your pup can enjoy the stunning views of Lake Ontario! One dog of up to 40 lbs is welcome for no additional fee, so it’s an economical place to stay for owners with small- or medium-sized dogs. There’s a cool grassy area for pet relief on the property, and your little furball can get a great night’s sleep in the comfort of their very own double-sided ‘Heavenly Dog Bed’! The hotel is right downtown and close to tons of grassy spaces where you can take your dog for a walk, like Harbour Square Park, the Toronto Waterfront Trail, and Sugar Beach. You and your dog can also visit dog-friendly eateries, like The Aviary pub (484 A Front St E), which features a large pet-friendly patio, and Black Lab Brewing (818 Eastern Ave), where you can bring your canine companions along for doggie dates while you and your friends chat over pale ales and more! 1 Harbour Square, Toronto.
Long Point Eco-Adventures, Norfolk County
This is one of Ontario’s most unique adventure parks — it’s about a 2.5-hour drive from Toronto and is more than welcoming to well-behaved dogs! Pet-friendly ‘glamping’ pods and suites are available for booking and guests can have food and drinks on the dog-friendly patio. For long walks, guests can head to the off-leash dog beach area at the west end of the day-use beach at Long Point Provincial Park. Visit Hounds of Erie — a boutique, dog-friendly winery nestled on 23 acres of farmland in Norfolk County (it’s 100% dog-friendly and is a great place to sip on premium crafted cold climate wines and ciders). 1730 Front Rd, Turkey Point, ON.
Elmhirst Resort, Rice Lake (near Peterborough)
This family-owned and -operated resort is nestled on the shores of Rice Lake and offers several pet-friendly cottages. They do have a pet policy: Pets have to stay in the pet area of the property (cottages 28-53) and only two pets are allowed in any cottage at any time. There is also an additional cost ($20.00 per pet, per day/$100 per pet, per 7-day stay), but the area is so charming that it’ll be worth it! The resort is only about a 2-hour drive from Toronto and boasts a conference centre, spa, and wedding venue sprawled out over 240 acres of gorgeous greenery. 1045 Settlers Line, Keene.
