Toronto trendsetters were buzzing this weekend when tweets began to circulate about a new collabo between Club Monaco and Michael Williams, founder of the popular menswear blog A Continuous Lean. Initially, rumour had it the Bloor Street store was going mens-only, which must have been a relief for local dudes who won’t be able to shop for khakis at the city’s first J.Crew, a ladies-only location.
As of Monday, however, fashionistas-in-the-know were tweeting a different tune: it turns out the Bloor Street location will remain an equal shopping experience, but its men’s section (along with the men’s section in New York’s flatiron flagship) will undergo a major re-tooling in light of the partnership with Williams. Apparently, a more rustic feel will be incorporated into the skinny-suit-and-tie vibe that Club Monaco is known to sport. New brands, which could include Wolverine footwear, Archival Clothing, Tanner Goods and several others will be introduced. Higher price points are also expected, but shoppers may not seem to notice with the planned lost-and-found, vintage-y décor.
The new men’s section is set to open in October.
