The Peacock Parade promises shopping (and shipping) equality with its new website

Avid online shoppers may have noticed a recent influx of Canadian-based e-boutiques that specialize in low-priced luxury goods and flash sales. Thanks to shipping complications, these sales were, in the past, usually reserved for our Yankee cousins. Now, The Peacock Parade has entered the scene. Launched last week, the new shopping site aims to change how Canadians shop online by promising shopping equality for all.

The Peacock Parade was started by Jan Gandhi and Nancy Sahota. While living in New York, the Torontonians took full advantage of fabulous flash sale sites, purchasing designer duds at discount prices. When they realized few American sites shipped to Canada, the entrepreneurs created their own website upon moving back to Toronto. Their intention: offering the high-end fashion their fellow Canadians crave at the low prices they deserve.

How low? Flash sales at The Peacock Parade can be a significant 70 per cent below retail prices. Already, big time designers such as Gucci, Prada, Dior and Celine have confirmed to participate in upcoming flash sales, ensuring markdowns usually only seen south of the border. (P.S. Watch out for the Line Knitwear leather jackets this fall – The Peacock Parade team’s must-have item for the upcoming season).

At this rate, it’s looking like we may never go to the mall again. But then again, these sites are always hyped up — we’ll find out soon enough whether The Peacock Parade delivers (figuratively speaking, that is).
