If there’s one thing that Will and Kate’s visit to Canada is proving, it’s that the new Duchess has got some killer style. “What is Kate wearing?” seems to be the biggest question of each day as the Queen-to-be consistently impresses fashionistas around the world with her chic clothing choices. And while the royal newlyweds didn’t stop in Toronto, we’re over it. Below, a roundup of items from local shops where you can emulate these “Kate in Canada” looks.
The Traveling Look. Kate was the picture of ultimate chic when she boarded the plane to Ottawa at Heathrow Airport, wearing her signature navy blue in a knee-length dress by Roland Mouret and a blazer by Toronto’s own design duo Smythe. You can get the blazer at Holt’s ( if it’s not already sold out), or you can scoop up this one and pair it with this dress, both from Zara.
Where to buy: Zara, 220 Yonge Street, 647-288-0333
The Cocktail Look. Kate shined in a gorgeous violet frock by one of her favourite designers, Issa London, to celebrate Canada Day at an evening event on Parliament Hill. She paired her ruched gown with a pair of black Prada pumps and a dazzling maple leaf brooch borrowed from the Queen. You may not be able to get your hands on that brooch, but you can create a similar look with this dress by Fashion Crimes (go for the purple one) and these pumps, available at David’s Shoes.
Where to buy: Fashion Crimes,322 ½ Queen Street, 416-592-9001. David’s Shoes, 66 Bloor Street, 416-920-1000
The Tree-Planting Look. Kate donned unconventional apparel for a tree-planting ceremony in Ottawa: a chic grey Catherine Walker dress with an oversized collar and a pair of matching heels. Get the look with this shirtdress from Urban Outfitters and these shoes from Aldo.
Where to buy: Multiple locations; check both stores’ websites for your nearest store.
The Sporty Look. Kate sported a refreshing casual look when she boarded a float plane in Yellowknife, dressed in her fave J. Brand jeans, an army shirt and flats. You can get her jeans at Mendocino and pair them with these loafers from Get Outside.
Where to buy: Mendocino, 2302 Bloor Street, 416-766-5111; Get Outside Shoes, 437 Queen Street, 416-593-5598
The Canadian Look. Of course, we like Kate best when she looks just like the rest of us. In Yellowknife, the Duke and Duchess received Canadian hockey jerseys with “Cambridge” on the back, and at Blatchford Lake, they were made honorary Canadian Rangers in matching red sweatshirts. We can’t all be rangers, but you can pick up your own Team Canada jersey at a SportChek near you (customary royal family back crest not included).
Where to buy: Yorkdale Shopping Centre, 3401 Dufferin Street, 416-598-3785
