Though Davido Afnani opened his eponymous menswear boutique on King West only two months ago, he has already garnered a few affluent Toronto names for his clientele. Aside from the expected Bay Street regulars that frequent his boutique, Toronto Raptor Jamaal Magloire and hometown rapper Kardinal Offishall have been known to drop by the “one-stop shop,” as Afnani puts it.
Walking into the shop, patrons are greeted to a small but welcoming space. The room is furnished with two LED televisions; one steadily rotates pictures of Afnani’s look books for reference. Meanwhile, an antique full-length mirror hides the change room.
“I like to be hands on,” says Afnani. “People will walk in looking for a suit, and they’ll walk away impressed by not only the price points, but the full styling service they receive. I’ll dress them in everything from the shirts, to the jackets, to the shoes.”
The boutique stocks a high-end listing of brands, including his own line and some that are exclusive to Toronto, such as Zingal Riche and Edward Morris.
Among the standouts is a two-button, 100 per cent wool suit by Edward Morris ($899, pictured above) with pink silk lining and hand-stitched details on the lapels. Afnani’s own line is also nothing to scoff at. Produced and manufactured in Italy and Turkey, his suits and blazers start from $400. A 100 per cent wool burgundy suit with white pinstripes ($799) is meant to work well with a complementary charcoal overcoat ($449) that has burgundy pinstripes to match.
Besides the suits, Afnani houses just about anything a gentleman may need: shirts, ties, belts, bags, bracelets, shoes, even hand cream and cologne, which includes the ultra-exclusive Amouage fragrance.
