Aspiring manic pixie dream girls, your wardrobe wishes have been answered. Free People, the popular Urban Outfitters offshoot, is set to open its first ever Canadian retail store in Toronto. The company has posted ads for Toronto store managers and staff on its website and a representative told us it is planning to open a location on Yorkville Avenue in early August.
While Free People clothing can currently be purchased in various locations around Toronto (The Bay, Urban Outfitters), this will be the first time Free People will bring an entire store’s worth of its hippie-chic stylings to the Canadian public.
U.S.-based Free People, like its corporate siblings Urban Outfitters and Anthropologie, specializes in highly styled, vaguely pricey garb for free-spirited twentysomethings, although its collections tend to lean towards a slightly more youthful, colourful and bohemian-inspired vibe. Basically, if you love Urban Outfitters, but are sick and tired of running into people wearing the exact same outfit as you, then you’ll probably welcome this addition to Toronto’s already burgeoning floral romper/crocheted crop-top market.
The only pity is that we’re going to have to wait until August. They say you can’t wear white after Labour Day, but what’s the word on tie-dye?
