It was only a matter of time until chef Nuit Regular (Sabai Sabai, Pai, Kiin) brought her own small revolution to the food scene during these pandemic-addled times.
By Chef Nuit, a new pop-up restaurant on Adelaide, is the latest experiment from Regular that was prompted by the new realities of COVID-era hospitality. The announcement was made on Pai Toronto‘s Instagram feed, detailing the new venture.
“Yes, it’s been a pretty downer 2020 so far to say the least. So chef Nuit Regular wanted to do something fun and creative to help lift our foodie spirits. Through By Chef Nuit, chef will be breaking through her constraints of traditional Thai cuisine to bring you…pretty much whatever she feels like.”
The pop-up is open for takeout and delivery from Tuesday to Sunday every week (12:30 p.m. – 9:30 p.m.). There is a bit of seating on a curbside patio outside and takeout is also available.

The pop-up’s official website invites Toronto diners to “join chef Nuit in her culinary playground and give in the whims of her ever-evolving inspirations and creations.”
The website also features around six of the items on the current menu, a few of which are already sold out after opening on Aug. 18. Tom yum fries ($5) and pad thai wings (currently sold out) are among the smaller fare, and mains run between $14-$20, including the massaman beef sandwich ($14) a sandwich on a soft roll with braised beef covered in massaman curry and melted smoked provolone.
Regular’s culinary prowess has landed her and her restaurants nationwide accolades, both for the love and passion she brings to her food and her willingness to be bold and original while honouring time-tested classics. The best way to be in the know about the pop-up’s newest menu items is to follow their Instagram page, where items like the chicken satay poutine (available on Wednesday, Aug. 19) debuted before it sold out.
