Toronto Police install more cams ahead of G20

If you head downtown this month, the lyrics to Rockwell’s 1984 classic ‘Somebody’s Watching Me’ might start running through your head.

That’s because Toronto Police will be watching you.

In addition to the 18 security cameras already installed, police have now added 67 more street cameras ahead of this month’s G20 Summit.

Officials say the cameras will be removed at the completion of the G20.

With $1 billion being spent on security, we’re suggesting a different kind of camera for the next G20 — the $29.99 webcam from Microsoft.

At one per leader, they can all get together online from the comfort of their respective offices at a total cost of $600 (not including Internet fees).
