Toronto’s Nicholas Hoare bookstore is closing in April

After closing its stores in Ottawa and Montreal, independent bookstore Nicholas Hoare has announced that its flagship Toronto location will close on April 1. The store is known for its unique décor, its finely curated book selection and its British charm.

Owner Nicholas Hoare has decided to retire and move to his 350-acre estate in Nova Scotia, which, if all goes to plan, will soon house a vineyard and an 18,000-volume library. It’s a fitting and bittersweet ending to this portion of Mr. Hoare’s story.
