To get into the spooky spirit, Torontonians can experience one of the most diabolical Halloween pop-up bars to hit the city. Offworld Bar on Queen St West has transformed into Hellbar. All throughout October, saints and sinners alike are invited to trade in the starry heavens for the warm and cozy pits of the underworld — even the food and drinks will have a devilish twist!
If you order Satan’s meatball roulette — six meatballs will arrive on your plate, but two will be infused with house-made ghost-pepper hot sauce! You can try each one if you and your friends are brave enough to face the hellish heat (thankfully, this dish is served with a rather heavenly — but optional — tall glass of milk). Try Fries of the Damned and you’ll receive delicious, crispy fries served with truffle aioli and Grana Padano (delivered in a skull, naturally). But if you ask for the Death Seasoning, your dish will be adorned with…pure evil (well, almost — ghost peppers and garlic)!
Prepare for penance when you order The Confessor cocktail. Simply text your sins to the number on the card provided with your cocktail, and the bar’s confessional professionals will assign you the appropriate penance. And if you’re really thirsty, opt for the $39 The Soul Contract cocktail. If that’s too steep, you can pay $6.66 plus a legally-binding contract by which you cede your soul to the bar (but apparently the cocktail is hellishly good)!

Hellbar also has a slate of spooky events this season, like The Devil Made Me Do It (Oct. 18), where guests dress as their deadliest sins and come to Hellbar for the best confessionals ever. Campfire Ghost Stories (Oct. 9) will be the most terrifying open mic in the city! No comedians needed, just bring your best ghost story to share on stage at Hellbar (prizes will be given to the best ones). And check out the horror cocktail classes, the sinful Sundays classic horror movie film screenings, and more!
