For those fashion mavens awaiting news about The Bay’s Topshop and Topman stores, today is a good day. The Bay just announced that the Yorkdale Mall store will house its first locations of the trendy British retailer. Though the store-within-a-store concept won’t open until September, those who crave the chic U.K. designs won’t have to wait long: a series of pop-up shops are scheduled for this summer.
The Bay is launching an ambitious guerilla-campaign, aptly called “Topshop and Topman Summer Takeover,” which will provide shopping previews at a series of pop-up shops around the city. The first one is scheduled for next weekend at Queen and Soho; another one, curated by Tommy Ton, opens at The Bay Queen Street at the end of June. Toronto Topshoppers will be able to keep track of the summer schedule of activities via Facebook and Twitter (heard of those yet?).
In conjunction with the store’s official opening, The Bay also announced that coming this September, shoppers from across Canada will be able to purchase Topshop and Topman merchandise through its website — an international first.
With a market already packed with affordable and unique clothing (Marshalls and Target come to mind), Toronto shoppers will have plenty to choose from for their fall wardrobe. And if the Topshop itch becomes too much to bear, there’s always Jonathan and Olivia.
