Three fashion month finds all from local sources

There seems to be a frenzy of Fashion Week fever in Toronto this month with events ranging from Toronto Fashion Week (TFW) in Yorkville, to Toronto Men’s Fashion Week (TOM), Sept. 26 to Oct. 1 downtown, and ReSet Fashion at the Great Hall on Queen West. Here’s a guide to some of the designers who will be showing and where to get your hands on the perfect Fashion Week outfit.

Fun and fresh streetwear
Get Fresh is getting a fresh start with an opening night TOM runway show on Sept. 29 at 5 p.m. Owner Jebril Jalloh launched his first ever spring collection earlier this year, and says this 2018 spring collection he will be showing at TOM will focus both on menswear and streetwear. Jalloh’s take on more polished streetwear includes embroidered hoodies and coach jackets with a focus on high-quality fabrics, unique fits and suave cuts. Get Fresh is also working on a collaboration with Puma to put out two pairs of sneakers on Nov. 24, working off a body that The Weeknd is introducing in September but adding its own unique twist.

Androgyny meets feminity
Your Choice has been a purveyor of high-end women’s fashion since 1975. Designers featured at Your Choice often push the boundaries of what is socially acceptable. This season, look no further than TFW featured Unttld’s Fall 2017 collection. The Montreal-based brand is a luxury line that leans strongly toward androgyny but with cuts that seem to accent a woman’s features, giving her a bold look from head to toe. Unttld favours shades of black and white rather than stark colour schemes, lending an edge to each fantastic piece. Catch Unttld’s runway show in Yorkville on Sept. 6 at 6:30 p.m.
Your Choice, Bayview Village

Where art and fashion collide
There are very few Canadian boutiques that base their esthetic on contemporary Canadian art, yet All About Eve embraces it. Paintings by the Canadian artist John Scott and light installations by Sakis fit along seamlessly with eclectic designers like Casa Como, It Fitz Me and Hilary MacMillan. MacMillan is also showing her spring/summer 2018 collection Sept. 5 to 6 at ReSet. Her collection has a tropical Spanish feel with green palm prints and blue-and-white striped bird and floral motifs. For more of a fall vibe, pick up the oversized knit with tie closure sweater and silky duster.
