The Clothing Show – Spring 2010 Edition

Fashionistas look no further for cutting-edge clothes from independent designers. The Clothing Show is back with everything from hard-to-find indie lines to classic vintage fashion. New additions include menswear and eco-fashion.

Festival of Ideas and Creation 2010

The third annual Festival of Ideas and Creation draws exciting dramatic talent from across Canada. Thirty new Canadian plays showcase this year’s theme of translation and adaption, including The Small Room at the Top of the Stairs by Carole Fréchette, translated by John Murrell. Check out the show on Saturday May 15 at 7:30 p.m.

Spring Chef’s Farmers Market on the Danforth

Satisfy your craving for local cuisine as Spring Chef’s Farmers Market on the Danforth breathes new life into the traditional farmer’s market. A group of chefs from Danforth venues team up with Food Network Canada star chef Lynn Crawford to explore local breads, meats and cheeses for your tasting pleasure.

Esprit Orchestra presents No Reason to Panic

Experience orchestra with a sense of whimsy at this Esprit Orchestra presentation. Mayke Nas’ No Reason to Panic composition was originally meant to calm the crowd while the stagehands shifted around the grand piano. Louis Andriessen’s Vermeer Pictures flirts with both late Renaissance and jazz influences.

Toronto Russian Film Festival

 Thrillers, documentaries and dramas arrive from Russia with love at the Toronto Russian Film Festival. Eleven different films – most with English subtitles –  by big names in cinema, such as producer and screenwriter Eduard Topol, hit Toronto screens this weekend.
