This Weekend: Doors Open Toronto, Idomeneo, and The Most RACES Show On Earth!

It may have been a short week, but this weekend still calls for a celebration. Get out and see Toronto like you’ve never seen it before with local festivals and entertainment.

Doors Open Toronto

You’ve probably walked past these buildings a thousand times, but this weekend you can see Toronto architecture up close and personal. The City of Toronto will open the doors of 150 buildings not normally accessible to the public to showcase Toronto’s rich architectural culture. Be sure to plan your route ahead of time by visiting the website.

Sound and Image

Come for the compositions, but stay for the spectacle. Celebrated animator Christopher Hinton’s stunning visuals compliment Canadian composer Michael Oesterle’s arrangements. Also, hear Via Salzburg Chamber Orchestra play classics by Elgar.

The Most RACES Show on Earth

Comedy knows no boundaries at Neil Bansil’s The Most RACES Show on Earth at Second City. The performance intends to bring diverse comics and audiences together and promote cultural acceptance through comedy. Performers include Canada’s own Nathan MacIntosh, as well as John Ki, Trixx and Ron Josol.

Idomeneo

Stay out of the sun, but feel the heat at the Canadian Opera Company’s production of Mozart’s fiery opera, Idomeneo. The story has Idomeneo, King of Crete, caught up in a cruel twist of fate when he must sacrifice his son to Neptune in return for saving his own life.
