This Weekend: Beer Show, short film and blues festivals, United Sounds Project

CFC Worldwide Short Film Festival

Size doesn’t matter at CFC Worldwide Short Film Festival —  or maybe it does since it’s the world’s largest short film festival. The event will host over 280 films from 34 different countries ranging from alternative comedy to stop motion animation to classic drama.

The Beer and Cocktail Show

Booze buffs will have trouble picking just one poison at the Beer and Cocktail Show this weekend. Enjoy a tipple or two as well as live entertainment and bartending demonstrations.

Waterfront Blues Festival

You won’t be singing the blues at the sixth annual Waterfront Blues Festival. Local and international musicians including Juno winners Fathead and Lil’ Ed & The Blues Imperials will show off their chops and bare their souls for Toronto.

West Side Story Suite Mixed Program

Choreographer Jerome Robbins shows Toronto what’s at the heart of West Side Story: music, dance and love. He trimmed the original you know and love to create West Side Story Suite, a National Ballet of Canada performance that includes seven song and dance numbers from the Broadway classic.

United Sounds Project

What do you get when you mix flamenco, jazz, soul and poetry? You get a performance unlike any other by the United Sounds Project. This collective of musicians, led by Carnagie Hall veteran Antonitas D’Havila, gives a unique performance every time they take the stage with their unexpected blend of musical styles.
