Say hello to Rhapsody, the newest addition to the Ossington neighbourhood in Toronto. This newly opened restaurant is set to provide Torontonians with a unique and one-of-a-kind sensory experience, living up to its name.

Helmed by Dan Eyimina, the mastermind behind  beloved Mrs. Robinson, and supported by executive chef Elias Salazar of Waska Peruvian Chicken fame and lead mixologist Joe Beiglee from Mrs. Robinson and Sunny Chinese, Rhapsody is a symphony of flavours, libations and music like no other.

“Rhapsody embodies what we were looking to create with music, vibe, and, food and beverage, in this symphonic fusion,” says Eyimina.“I like to create things in the hospitality space that are moody where when you walk in.  You’re  going to feel something and hopefully it’s going to be something positive. With Rhapsody, I want you to come in and be transported and feel like you’re getting away and experiencing something.”

At Rhapsody, music isn’t just background noise; it’s the heartbeat of the venue. While Eyimina has a soft spot for the roots of hip hop, the eclectic music selection curated by the team aims to resonate with every guest, ranging from sultry hip hop to contemporary modern to classical stylings to electrifying stadium rock.

And, while the tunes set the mood, the culinary offerings steal the spotlight. The menu is a tantalizing blend of Peruvian and Japanese influences, boasting mouth-watering hot and cold tapas and authentic dishes that showcase ingredients sourced locally and directly from Peru.

Highlights from the menu include the Pulpo Parrillero, a delightful mix of charred octopus and crispy pork belly, the Empanada Criolla — one of Eyimina’s favourites — bursting with Peruvian spices, and the refreshing Ceviche Mixto featuring tiger shrimp and Moroccan octopus. For dessert, patrons can also order a tres leches cake and a Peruvian-inspired ice cream sandwich.

“When you come, if it‘s just you, you’re going to want to have at least two things. If you come with a group, you’re going to want to have two to three dishes so you can taste each thing,” says Eyimina. “And that’s part of the vibe, the social engagement of sharing food, beverages, and partaking in music in that cohesion.”

For cocktail enthusiasts, Rhapsody offers rhythmic refreshments inspired by favourite songs, such as Above the Clouds, Easy Rider and for those looking for a non-alcoholic option, the Classic Chica Morada is available.

This attention to detail and whimsical energy is also reflected in the venue’s design. As Eyimina says, Rhapsody seamlessly merges woodland enchantment with playful whimsy, featuring custom-designed murals, exquisite chandeliers resembling whimsical trees, and the Water Room — a serene oasis complete with a sponsored bar by Tequila Tromba.

“We love the Ossington strip, the culture, the energy, the people, and we’re committed to being a part of this awesome community,” says Eyimina. “I believe that Rhapsody is timeless and I think we’re doing something that other people aren’t doing here  and that is really fun and exciting. I’m hoping guests come to us for the next 20 years.”

Rhapsody is located at 214 Ossington Ave., and is open from 5 p.m. until late, Tuesday through Saturday.
