This Long Weekend in Toronto: Easter at Toronto Zoo, a bunny-themed pillow fight, sweet treats at Kensington Market and more

We know Wednesday afternoon seems a little early to be making weekend plans, but it’s a short working week. With Friday off, the weekend is almost upon us — which makes it completely okay to ditch that spreadsheet and use your office time to plan what to do with those three days off. Here, we present five of the city’s finest Easter offerings for your consideration.

Annual Easter “Eggstravaganza” at the Toronto Zoo

Easter takes over the Toronto Zoo this weekend. Families can walk along the zoo’s “Spring Trail” and visit some of their favourite animals as well as take part in Easter-themed activities. Also, keep an ear out for the Easter keeper talk and be a part of the Beary-Bunny Easter Parade, featuring the zoo’s mascot Explorer Bear, all dressed up in his best bunny gear.
Toronto Zoo, 361A Old Finch Ave., 416-392-5929. April 6-9.

Toronto Pillow Fight

What better way to spend Easter weekend than smacking a complete stranger with a pillow? This year’s theme is bunnies and eggs, so grab your ears and fluffy tail and make your way down to Yonge-Dundas Square for a pillow fight of epic proportions.
Young-Dundas Square. April 7, 8 p.m.

Mariposa Easter Brunch Cruise

How about a family meal aboard the Mariposa Belle? Along with buffet-style brunch, guests will be able to enjoy a beautiful view of the harbourfront on the two-hour cruise. And if all that time with the family gets too much, there’s also a full cash bar.
Mariposa Cruises, April 8, 11:30 a.m. $49 adult, $25 children four to 12, free under four years.

Toronto Beaches Lions Annual Easter Parade

This non-denominational celebration brings together over 45,000 guests on Queen Street between Neville Park and Woodbine Avenue to enjoy the floats, chocolates and meet the Easter Bunny.
Neville Park, April 8, 2 p.m.

Kensington Market Sweets Tour

Though this tour takes place every weekend, what could be more appropriate on Easter Sunday than a walk filled with cream eggs, colourful cupcakes and chocolate bunnies? The guided tour will feature a history of candy, a visit to five sweet shops, samples and discounts from certain stores.
Butterfly Bakery, 492 Dundas St. W. April 8, 11:30 a.m. & 2 p.m. $30 adult, $10 child. Must book online 24 hours in advance.
