The Royal Ontario Museum announces a new executive chef (hint: he’s from Restaurant Makeover)

This kind of came out of nowhere, but the ROM has a new executive chef: Corbin Tomaszeski. The announcement was made in a press release sent out this morning. In addition to his 20-plus years of experience as a chef (his latest gig was as executive chef at Holts Café), Tomaszeski is also known at a television personality from shows like Dinner Party Wars and Restaurant Makeover.

Tomaszeski is designing new menus for C5, Food Studio Café and the ROM’s catering service. C5 patrons can expect to see such fare as truffle potato chips with fleur de sel, a lobster B.L.T salad and a classic pot pie with free range stewed chicken. Buzzwords for the new menu include “simple” and “accessible.”

Meanwhile, C5’s former executive chef, Ted Corrado, has been promoted to regional executive chef for Compass Leisure (a subsidiary of Compass Group Canada, the foodservice company behind C5). He will provide culinary advice for leisure sites across the country.

We’re excited to see what Tomaszeski has in store, but Corrado’s always-interesting cuisine will be missed.
