While Toronto has a strange tendency to fall into conniptions at the prospect of a NYC institution making its way here, we do, in fact, have at least one cool venue of our own. Well, at least according to CNN. In its list of the 15 best hotel bars in the world, The Drake Hotel, of all places, got a mention for its rooftop patio, Sky Yard.
Other mentions went to Connaught Bar at London’s The Connaught Mayfair, Icebar at Copenhagen’s Icehotel (and yes, NYC is included for Bemelmans Bar at The Carlyle Hotel). So, what’s so special about The Drake’s Sky Bar? Apparently, it’s so hip that “just being there cranks up the cool-scale ranking.” We’re not sure exactly what that means, but it sounds neat.
It’s nice that Toronto gets to rub shoulders with some non-second-rate cities, and, at the very least, this should do wonders for our collective sense of inferiority.
