The Detox Market, an all-in-one, eco-friendly shop, pops up on King West

One of the most frustrating things about green shopping is having too much selection. For those short on time, or patience, the new concept store, The Detox Market, helps do the choosing for you. The pop-up shop, which opened this month and closes in January, carries a carefully curated selection of the best eco-friendly products from around the world.

Founded by Los Angeles-based “green” entrepreneurs, Valerie Grandury and Romain Gaillard, the King West location is the third Detox Market. It joins permanent stores in Los Angeles and San Francisco.

Many of the lines found in the store are exclusive to The Detox Market Toronto and include beautiful, triple-milled Pure Provence soaps from France (scents come in Pomegranate Passion Fruit and Cranberry Acai), as well as Kide Eco Cosmetics. A popular line from Finland, the pure, mineral foundations contain vitamins and antioxidants.

For conscious foodies, the shop also carries Taza Stone Ground Chocolate, the only chocolate producer in the US to make 100% organic, stone ground chocolate made from Direct Trade-certified cacoa. For those searching for a milk alternative, Simpli Oatshakes is a soy/dairy-free beverage that is GMO-Free and available in several creamy flavours. A tea bar corner displays the bright and colourful collectable tins of Kusmi Tea.

And with TIFF just, literally, around the corner, The Detox Market might be the perfect spot for, well, detoxifying.
