Tea haven sets up shop atop Hogg’s Hollow

Owner aims to offer calmness one cup at a time

Dawon has recently opened its first location atop Hogg’s Hollow. The tea and furniture store sells tea imported from Japan and China, dishes from Japan and furniture from Tibet and China. Owner Naomi Kim says she only selects the highest quality of tea, and she hopes to help her customers find peace in their lives one cup at a time (3467 Yonge St., 416-901-8882).

Personal Edge/Centre du Rasoir has been selling and repairing razors since 1959. It also sells small appliances and personal lifestyle products, such as slow cookers, kettles, espresso and coffee makers, blenders and grooming and garment care products, from various locations, including their latest store (3302 Yonge St., 416-483- 7730).

Crema Coffee Co., is opening a café in a second shared location with Freshii, near Yonge and Bloor. “My goal has been to create a business that can serve a coffee connoisseur,” said Geoff Polci, whose café was the winner of Toronto’s 2008 Krups best café award. He uses a traditional Italian lever espresso machine (53 Bloor St. E., 416-962-3131).

Originally a café in Rome, the Mad Italian Gelato Bar has opened on the Bayview strip. They use a family recipe and make their gelato fresh daily. The family business, called Dolce and Delizie in Rome is owned by Alessandro Settimi.They also sell homemade eclairs, cannoli, fruit tarts, sandwiches, imported coffee and specialty lattes (1581 Bayview Ave., 416-901-4556).

Dillon Opticians is celebrating 15 years in business. Their collection of frames is carefully selected from European designers for contemporary design choices (2657 Yonge St., 416-483-2123).
