Taylor Swift couldn’t have paid for this kind of publicity.
Just a day ago, the pop star  unveiled an additional 14 dates for her highly anticipated international The Eras Tour, and once again Toronto was left off the list. The 33-year-old  announced that while she will play extra nights in cities like Paris, Lisbon, Liverpool, Stockholm, Lyon, Edinburgh, London, Amsterdam, Milan, Warsaw, Vienna, Dublin and Gelsenkirchen, not one Canadian city made the cut. The last time Swift played Canada was for her Reputation Stadium Tour in 2018.
This prompted none other than Justin Trudeau to do what any good Prime Minister would do: ask Taylor Swift to perform in Canada. Using lyrics from her songs.
It’s me, hi. I know places in Canada would love to have you. So, don’t make it another cruel summer. We hope to see you soon.

“It’s me, hi,” Trudeau tweeted. “I now places in Canada would love to have you. So don’t make it another cruel summer. We hope to see you soon.”
While some Canadians supported his efforts, he also faced criticism over the public request.
“Yes, it’s real. This is our Prime Minister fan girling over Taylor Swift. Apparently somebody on his social media team thought this would be a good idea. Canada’s global reputation just hit a new low,” one person said.
So far Swift has not issued a public response to Trudeau’s tweet.
Perhaps a new(ish) album would help Canadian Swifties shake off the disappointment over being left off the tour.
On Friday (July 7) at the stroke of midnight, Swifties were gifted with another re-recorded Taylor Swift album: Speak Now (Taylor’s Version) which she originally released when she was 19. The majority of the songs are the same as the original versions and it also includes six new “vault tracks” one called “When Emma Falls in Love” which has fans in a tizzy wondering…who is Emma? Many fans are convinced it could be about Swift’s longtime friend Emma Stone.
The new songs are “about the whims, fantasies, heartaches, dramas and tragedies I lived out as a young woman between 18 and 20,” Swift said on Instagram.
Only time will tell if Swift will surprise fans with upcoming Canadian dates, but there’s still hope! Â Social media is buzzing about the possibility of a second leg of the North American tour.
