Guy and Michael Rubino’s funky AME restaurant in downtown Toronto will be hosting cooking classes in the coming weeks. No, students won’t learn their miso from their matcha, instead the "school" will focus on cocktails. That’s right, booze. Apparently, AME is billing itself as something of a cocktail destination spot. Who knew?
The Toronto Cocktail Cooking School will teach willing participants with $50 to spare the secrets of expert mixology. Classes will be held Monday to Wednesday at 6 p.m. for up to 10 people, and students get to drink their creations at the end of the night.
AME, the former location of the Rubino’s fine dining shrine Rain, is a contemporary Japanese restaurant that is more casual and approachable then the Rubino brothers’ previous efforts. It is located in the entertainment district at 19 Mercer St.
