Toronto recently got a new spot for spritzy cocktails and summery, seasonal bites. Located at 90 Portland St., Spritz Garden at Vela is a gorgeous pop-up outdoor oasis and the perfect spot to make the most of your summer in Toronto. Here, you can enjoy a light seafood-focused tapas menu paired with spritzy cocktails, and the Spritz Garden at Vela is a place you can show up and enjoy, with no reservations required!
The Spritz Garden patio is a cozy spot that seats 40, with additional standing space for 25, making it the perfect spot to stop by for a quick after-work cocktail, or prior to heading inside Vela to enjoy their summer menu.
The Spritz Garden at Vela opened mid-June 2022 and it will remain open until September. As temperatures drop, the team will add heaters to the space, and slightly adapt the menu, allowing for warmer drinks and cozier food options to be enjoyed.
Food & Drink
The Spritz Garden emphasizes light, shareable bites with a spotlight on seafood.
Popular favourites include the tuna crude done served with cilantro, shallot and tri-colour shrimp chips, as well as the chilled half lobster tail done with xoxo sauce and zesty lemon. Classics like the shrimp cocktail, salt spring mussels and shrimp and scallop ceviche are also on offer.
For those who just want something to nibble on, there’s also a snack section on the menu with fresh bites like the heirloom tomato salad tossed with aged balsamic vinegar and basil, or the Nordic shrimp roll served with kewpie mayo, celery, sliced lemon and a side of chips.
Light desserts include halo halo made from coconut pandas slush, mango ice cream and leche flan, as well as banana pudding served with ladyfingers.
Sophisticated cocktails will also be on offer, including fan favourite, “The Spritz Has Hit the Fan,” which is a delicious boozy slushie that’s filled with Martini Fiero, grapefruit, lemon and seasonal berries.
Another refreshing favourite is the “Kevin” – a tequila based piñacolada.
The Spritz Garden at Vela is currently open Tuesday to Thursday from 5 to 11 p.m. and Friday and Saturday from 12 to 11 p.m.
