South of Temperance, the bustling Financial District resto-bar known for its vast patio and its popularity with the well-heeled Bay Street crowd, has been given the boot in order to make way for a new 980,000 square-foot office tower.
According to Tom Altosaar, a co-owner of the restaurant, the establishment has been given a notice to evict by the end of October. Still, he stresses that this isn't the end of the line for South of Temperance.
“We are looking to relocate the brand in the neighbourhood,” he says. “We are hoping to be able to move, with a very short hiatus.”
Although we’re glad to hear that South of Temperance won’t be gone for good, it’s still sad to be losing one of the Financial District’s best patios. Here’s hoping that South of Temperance’s new location will be as lucrative for dining and drinking al fresco, though come October, we suppose we might — reluctantly — be ready to head indoors anyway.
