While the provincial mandate requiring restaurants to check vaccine passports is officially gone, some restaurants are choosing to keep enforcing it.
Rosedale Diner announced via Instagram that, after talking to guests, vaccine passports will still be required to dine in the restaurant.
“After speaking with our regulars and employees, and considering the close quarters of our inside dining, we’ve decided to continue enforcement of the passport beyond March 1st,” the post reads.
Revue Cinema tweeted a similar sentiment, noting that proof of vaccination and masks will be required for entry until April 4. Queen St. E.’s Fox Theatre followed suit, and is also keeping the proof of vaccination system in place for the foreseeable future, according to its website.
Other restaurants in the Rosedale area, though, seem to be bidding the vaccine passports adieu. Other restaurants in the area, including Mineral, Quanto Basta, Terroni on Price and Avant Gout, have not made any announcements requiring patrons to show proof of vaccination. In fact, nearby Sorrel is introducing lunch service, beginning March 1.
While the provincial mandate is officially over, the government allowed for businesses to make their own decisions. While some are still weary of letting guards down, others welcome the return to full capacity and removal of the passport system. Rosedale Diner joins several businesses across Ontario choosing to keep the passport system in place.
