Holt Renfrew’s offshoot store, HR2, opened a second Canadian location at Vaughan Mills in May. And although the store is a discount-oriented branch of the Holt Renfrew tree, luxury remains at the brand’s root.
Within the vast 25,000-square-foot space, shoppers can find the same brand names that they’re used to finding at Holts. With over 150 brands on the racks, HR2 offers one-time-only merchandise at discounted prices for Michael Kors, Valentino, Diane von Furstenberg, Nicole Miller and other high-end labels.
But HR2 doesn’t simply stock its shelves with runoff goods from the main Holt Renfrew store. There’s no product overlap between the two, so there’s no point in waiting for a pricey product from Holts to work its away down to a sale at HR2.
After 176 years in business, it was probably time for Holt Renfrew to expand its reach and explore new Canadian markets. Over the last three years, Holts has been diligently expanding its retail space at existing stores, and it’s also been branching into new opportunities — hence the emergence of two new HR2 locations (the first was in Montreal).
And the plans don’t stop here. Keep an eye out for a new flagship Holt Renfrew store to open at Mississauga’s Square One in 2016.
