Canada’s National Ballet School (NBS) is unique in North America in offering full-time professional dance training with a fully integrated academic school for aspiring dancers from Grades 6 to 12 and intensive dance training at the post-secondary level. Talent is the sole criterion for entry into the professional program. NBS also offers an after-school and weekend associates program for children and youth. All programs are in the Jarvis Street campus. The award-winning facilities include the Celia Franca Centre, with 12 large, light-filled dance studios, and the Mona Campbell Square, a central meeting space with café, library and study and lounge areas. The Margaret McCain Academic Building houses 8 homeroom classrooms; science, computer and photography labs; music room; audio-visual theatre; and art studio. The Betty Oliphant Theatre, located at 404 Jarvis Street in Toronto, is a 266-seat stage training facility. Also on site is The Shoe Room, a retail store.
