A revamp of True True pizzeria, which formerly occupied the space, True True Diner is a modern diner helmed by chef Suzanne Barr (who previously ran the kitchen in Gerrard East’s now-shuttered brunch spot Saturday Dinette). Black-and-white photos depicting key moments in the civil rights movement line the restaurant’s white subway tiled walls -- a reference to a time when diners were often places where civil rights leaders and activists would meet and make plans. True True’s eclectic menu runs the gamut from all-day eggs to hoagies and pizza. Like the decor, the food is classic and comforting yet polished.
